Branimir Rakić is the co-founder and CTO of Trace Labs, core developers of OriginTrail protocol for trusted supply chain data exchange, actively used through an open, permissionless OriginTrail Decentralized Network since late 2018. As the architect of the OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph – a technology stack employing blockchain, global standards for linked data and novel identity frameworks such as the Self Sovereign Identity – Branimir has been leading OriginTrail implementations with Trace Labs partners such as British Standards Institution, the Swiss Railway company SBB, Oracle, IoT & digital identity software company Evrythng and several consortiums within the Trace Alliance and European commission supported project.
He’s particularly experienced in track & trace and provenance applications, having developed such solutions within the food industry since 2011. Branimir has been mentored by Bob Metcalfe (famous for the “Metcalfe’s law” of network effects) after which OriginTrail has received the Food+City People’s Choice Award in Austin, Texas in 2017. Being a strong advocate of open source, permissionless innovation, Branimir is active in standards development working groups within GS1 and the blockchain communities, a member of the Serbian Entrepreneurs and an alumni H-Farm accelerator.
The passion for systems translates to his out-of-office activities as well, when he often enjoys creating music and experimenting with sound synthesis and noise exploration, a hobby he has pursued since the early 2000s.
Branimir is an MSc in Information Technologies & Telecommunications graduated at the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering.
