Tomislav is a medical doctor and university assistant professor with MD/PhD degrees from the University of Zagreb, MPH degree from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and two specialities at the European Union level (clinical microbiology and sexual medicine). He has also pursued an additional 1-year training in clinical trials at Harvard University. Tomislav is a Croatian collaborator for the Global Burden of Disease project, Local Burden of Disease project and GRAM project at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) of the University of Washington. He has authored/co-authored a large number of publications, abstracts and book chapters. Also he is active in committees of the American Society for Microbiology, where he has also acted as a chair of ASM’s Young Leaders Circle, and in the various EU projects (e.g. Managing Committee Member of COST EVBRES project). Tomislav holds fellowships from the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM), Royal Society for Public Health (FRSHP) and College of American Pathologists (IFACP). And he is an avid lecturer, science communicator and an active proponent of science diplomacy.
