David Ruau, PhD. is the Head of Global Data Asset and Decision Science at Bayer Pharmaceuticals leading the data asset and data science function working across all functions at Bayer Pharmaceuticals. David is an experienced digital business leader in the life-science industry. Prior joining the industry David accumulated 10+ years of experience in integrative bioinformatics and biomedical research.

David authored 30+ publications in Nature, Nature Methods, Science Translational Medicine, Cell, Cell Stem Cell, the Journal of Pain, PLoS… His research using Electronic Medical Records was featured in the New York Times, Time magazine, the Wall Street Journal, and on news network such as the BBC, NPR, BBC and CNN. David received several awards including the Borchers medal from the RWTH University, the 2010 research award of the department of Anesthesia at Stanford University School of Medicine, and the distinguish paper award at AMIA TBI 2011 and was nominated for the Young Investigator Award of the IASP. Additionally, David wrote two book chapters on data mining techniques used in functional genomics, one published by Springer and the latest is a textbook for bioinformatics for Cold Spring Harbor.
